Kirsten Turned 2

May 31, 2009

I can’t believe that Kirsten turned 2 years’ old yesterday.  Time has flown by and she’s now into the “terrible twos”!  We started time outs this week using the small mat at the bottom of the 3 steps between the kitchen and the family room.  I hope Kirsten starts to realise what they’re about.  Kirsten has also started throwing tantrums getting out of the car.  She would rather climb into the front seat and pretend to drive.  It doesn’t help that the garage is about 110 degrees!!

I’m going to try to commit to post at least once a week if not twice.  We’ll see how that goes and how long it lasts.  We went to the photographer’s yesterday to get our annual pictures.  For those of you who remember we also had some shots done on Kirsten’s first birthday last year.  I will try and get them posted to the shutterfly site during the week and also the pictures taken of around the house showing the 7 helium balloons that we have.

I only decided on Tuesday that I was going to hold a birthday party for Kirsten so started inviting friends and neighbours to join us for cake.  I think I went a little over the top with my baking although I was proud of myself for making the birthday cake from scratch.  It was the caterpillar cakelet pan from Williams Sonoma:  I even bought their decorating kit and watched their online video for help.  It didn’t turn out quite the same as theirs but It didn’t look bad and Mummy (me) baked it all herself.  Using packet mixes I also made 12 blueberry cupcakes; 12 chocolate chip cupcakes; and a chocolate sponge cake.  There are also 2 tea loaves in the freezer for when we might want/need them using my Mum’s recipe from her WI cookbook.

Thank you for the wonderful selection of gifts.

Last but not least Kirsten has made it through to the final 50 in the mix 96.9 baby idol competition.  Whoever receives the most votes by 1pm on Tuesday afternoon wins.  The prize is a $2000 visa gift card.  I’ll keep you updated if she wins.  It’s impressive that she made it this far:

I’ve also discovered a lovely picture of Kirsten taken yesterday at her party by Debra:
